French Horn Lessons

The French Horn is regarded as one of the most difficult instruments to learn. But with the right guidance and patience, it can be the most satisfying and rewarding learning experience for your child.

The French Horn is perhaps the least efficient instrument of the brass family, but it produces the most beautiful sound of all.

Accomplished Musician,
Passionate Educator

With a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in French Horn from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU), I have honed my skills under the guidance of esteemed padagogues and musicians Peter Luff, Ysolt Clark, and Malcolm Stuart. During my studies, I was honored to receive both academic and performance awards, recognizing my dedication and achievements.

How it All Began

When my primary school music teacher discovered that I have perfect pitch, she suggested I take up the French horn. Initially drawn to its shine and curviness, the more I played, the deeper my love grew for the instrument's unique challenges. The dedicated and passionate teachers who nurtured my journey have profoundly shaped my own teaching approach to be engaging, informative, and tailored to match each student's intellectual pace.

Masterclasses & International Activity

I have had the honor of participating in masterclasses led by distinguished horn players like Stefan Dohr, Sarah Willis, Andrew Bain, and Nobuaki Fukukawa. As a member of QHorns, the resident horn ensemble at QCGU, I traveled to Brazil, performing at the International Horn Symposium in 2017. My involvement with the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) International Tour allowed me to perform in renowned concert halls across China, Europe, and Australia, including the iconic Het Concertgebouw and the Sydney Opera House. In 2018, I was awarded the AYO Accenture Scholarship, enabling me to travel to Germany and receive lessons from respected horn pedagogues and musicians, such as Marie Louise Neunecker, Ab Koster, Markus Maskuniitty, Jörg Brückner, and Szabolcs Zempleni.

Professional Highlights

I have performed as a casual musician with orchestras and ensembles including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Camerata, and Queensland Pops Orchestra. One of my most memorable performances was my first professional gig, which was with Hans Zimmer in Brisbane during his world tour!
